1. Identify the connection
The catalogue covers six flange arrangements. The type describes how the flange connects to the pipe, while the facing describes the gasket interface.
- WN: tapered neck with a butt-welded connection.
- SO / SW: slip-on or recessed socket connections.
- BL / TH / LJ: blind closure, threaded connection or lap joint with a matching stub end.
2. Define the complete interface
Nominal diameter alone does not identify a matching flange. Standards can use different bolt patterns, dimensions and rating systems.
- Give the standard and edition, DN or NPS, and PN or Class.
- State RF, FF or RTJ facing and the mating flange details.
- For a weld neck flange, include the pipe wall thickness and bore requirement.
3. Complete the purchase line
Use a structured line item so the supplier can identify missing information before preparing a price.
- Example format: WN / standard / material / NPS / Class / RF / bore or SCH / quantity.
- Add surface protection, inspection documents and packing requirements.
- Attach the approved drawing when dimensions differ from a standard product.
